fairways & geese Photo submitted by rammartin on 05/08/2015
very hard to play after the rain
when we got to the course, we were told there were no golf carts due to water on the course. We were offered pull carts but there were no straps to secure the golf bags. There were puddles all over the course so made it very hard to play. On top of that, the mosquitoes were flying in packs. We end up quit after 9 holes. I wish we were told the condition of the course before we played.
It's not Bethpage blue, yellow or green but better in many ways
Challenging course. It's not well manicured like Bethpage blue, yellow or green. Probably because of its location but it is more challenging. Be sure to read up on 16 before you go.
Lido Never Again
Course was not well maintained at at all. Duck droppings were everywhere and it was disgusting. My son and I were paired with 2 under-age (course requires you to be 15 but these boys were 13) and completely inexperienced golfers which made for a slow and frustrating round. The course has no amenities to speak of and the bathroom on the course looked liked it hadn't been maintained since 1940. Awful experience and I will never go back.
Great round of Golf
only problem is we got started about 30min later than expected but still finished in about 4:10
great greens and views
great golf course always a fun day..best views of any course greens always true ..
Unique course
Hot day, but breeze made it feel comfy. Greens excellent shape. Fairways were just ok.
Could not get carts til 5 minutes before tee time. Why ? I have no idea. They were just sitting there empty.
16,17 & 18 are hard when the wind is up
the course is in good sharp but the greens were are the slow side. I would play this course for $50.00 or less but not a$ 68.00. on a budget.
Great Course
Great local course with beautiful views. Couple of tough holes that keep you sharp. For a Monday the course was busy but, played at a good pace. Much friendlier than the neighboring Middle Bay Club.
Lido is back
Played here the spring after super storm sandy. Except for the greens the course was destroyed. Played here again yesterday July 2 and the course was in beautiful shape. I've been playing here since 1982 and this place is in the best shape I've ever seen it.
Poor experience
I've been playing here for years and this was not my best experience by any means. The weather wasn't great but I would never hold that against a course. The condition of the course, however, is a different story. The course was covered in geese turds, the greens were inconsistent and the bunker were like playing out of wet concrete.
The two foursomes in front of mine had no business being on a golf course; both in terms of playing ability and etiquette. A golfer should never ask a faster group to play through and then when the offer was accepted look me dead in the eye and tell me he was just kidding. I think his playing partners realized what he did because they hit their tee shots on 17 and drove directly to the club house.
If you do play here on a weekend wear a helmet because it's a firing range.
OK For An Outing
The course is in below average condition. Similar to Muni's that have average care and maintenance. The fairways are patchy with many bare spots. The course is covered in goose droppings which add to the hazard of poor grass conditions. The staff is great and really helpful. If you just want to get out and play then give this a try. It is close to the water and presents a different style of play to test your skills. The staff is very accommodating and really add a calmness to your day.
Picturesque
Great setting down on the south shore makes for a scenic water view on a couple of holes but also very windy. The greens recently airated lyles a little bumpy. Otherwise course was in great shape.
early in season to complain about conditions
By time we are well into spring this should be looking a lot better. Very dry
Links style conditions at its finest
I played this course 3 times. All three times the course conditions were different. Bring a Robert Trent Jones design, the layout is beautiful. Being off the water will really test your game or your tolerance for mosquitoes if the wind is calm.
One thing was consistent was how good the food is.
Desperately needs manicuring
While I understand that it is very early in the season and we are recovering from a rough winter, this course was in horrendous condition. The fairways were littered with debri and more bird droppings than I've ever seen anywhere. If they are going to open the course and charge green fees they have to provide a somewhat clean field condition. This one was not.
Good Hot Deal Value
The course was in good shape for early December.
Pace of play was good and for $24 with a cart how could you go wrong.
The young man in the pro shop could use a little personality , but I will certainly be back to play.
poo
What a shame could be nice course if they would clean up all the goose droppings which covers the fairways and greens. No grass to be found just poo
too many geese!
Everything was great except for the geese droppings & the sand traps needed sand.
Yikes
Pace of play was quite poor. Slow.A lot of poor etiquette from other golfers.I've seen cow pastures in better shape than this place.
its in horrendous condition no maintenance at all WILL NEVER GO BACK
