Best Public Course in Tri-State
This place is amazing for golf lovers and hard as can be for even a mid-handicap golfer. Multiple tee box options and even when playing the one appropriate to my skill (12 index) it was a grind! Would definitely play this once or twice a year as a treat to my golf love.
Course is a treat! Experience is good.
Beautiful and challenging routing. The golf is great!
The experience is somewhat hindered by the tight rules which the staff are instructed to enforce. A focus on the customer experience here could really make this place amazing. A few examples:
1. I asked for a glass of ice with my Diet Coke which I bought at the clubhouse restaurant. They said they didn’t have enough ice. I asked if I could bring a cooler From my car. The answer was no. The experience would be better if I was allowed to have a cooler or if I could have ice with my drink. With no water on the course due to covid, it would be nice if coolers were allowed.
2. My friend and I were chatting in the parking lot for about 15 minutes after our round. The staff asked us to leave citing that people were allowed to stay on the premises after they finished their round. I found that being asked to leave immediately was an unpleasant and an unfortunate ending to a great round of golf.
Again. Golf is great and staff does its best with what they are given. I will be back!
Wow
The course is a real gem. Truly unique. a treat to play.
Dehydration! Military School Golf.
Course = beautiful, challenging etc.
Starters = control freaks. Won’t let you use your cart until it’s 5 minutes before your tee time. Relax, no one is curing Covid....
Club house = awful. Closed to the public for whatever reason. All pro shops in NY are open at this point. Then you get in line by a window and wait your turn for some rude woman to assist.
My final straw with this course was when, in 90+ degree weather with insane humidity and no water on the course, NO CART GIRL/GUY driving around, I finished my round and went to buy a gatorade. I asked for a cup of ice with it and she told me ICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR MIXED BEVERAGES. Excuse me...? Because I chose not to drink alcohol and am dying of thirst and want ice at the only available location to get such on this course, you are refusing me ... ICE?!
Happy to consult on cost savings of yardage books so your patrons paying $100+ for a round of golf can get some ice....
Won’t be going back here any time soon.
Get it together, this is customer service basics 101
Great course...service SO bad I would never go back
This course had a really nice layout relative to other public courses in the area. The service was abysmal and offensive and ruined the entire experience. I would rather play at a dog track than be subjected to such horrible service.
Don't pay to play here its not worth it.
Car path only rule is somewhat disappointing
Didn't know it was car path only. Would've preferred walking. Nothing annoys me more than walking to the ball only to realize I took the wrong clubs and had to walk all the way back to the cart to fetch another club. Wish I was told beforehand and so I would choose to walk instead of ride.
fyi - website and golf now note that it is cart path only. Walking from the cart to your ball is good exercise.
Pound Ridge Golf Club
Hidden gem. Top notch golf course. Pete Dye classic.
It took 5 hours and 10 minutes to play, including 2 hours and 45 minutes for the back nine. One foursome was brutally slow. No rangers on course. For this price, not acceptable.
The course should provide their jugs of filler for divots. Don't know why they don't. Could do so with cleansing.
Pound Ridge
Great day - worth the money to play every now and then
Bring the A game
Played pound ridge multiple times over the years and make sure you show up committed to play golf. Played oak as 10 handicap and escaped with less than average golf with an 88. If putter wasn’t working it could of been low 90’s easily. Keep it in the middle, Hope to get a good lie/angle, and putt well is the recipe for success. Always in great shape which you pay for, but leave the expectations of scoring well at the range.
Fantastic
Finest golf experience. This is a true gem of a course! A must play in the area.
Tried calling them today at 10am and no one picks up the phone. I guess customer service doesn't exist.
