Brooklyn Golf
Dyker Beach, On the Way Back
I was very pleased to see that the golf course is on its way back.
In 2018, Dyker Beach was looking like a country club and then took a nosedive.
Let us put this into the past. The greens are not prepared for filling in nicely. Participants simply need to be encouraged to repair divots and the greens should be able to hold up to the amount of play expected in, 2022.
The staff is great, beginning with the starter crew, absolutely the very best. The management should stay in place. For the first time, in a while, they seem to be the right fit.
Dyker Beach is on the right track to become NYC's number one golf course.
Dyker Golf
I’ve played this course many time and throughly enjoy the layout. There’s plenty of parking and the club room is clean and the service is great. In fact I had an excellent Bloody Mary to ward off the chill. It is my course of choice . You will enjoy a round here.
Don’t hit it into the bunkers
The bunkers are death traps. Make sure to leave a trail of gumdrops so the police can find you later in case you get lost!!! My only other complaint is the traffic leaving brooklyn to get home “outside the borough of brooklyn” is very very sucky…. Oh yeah can only buy drinks at pro shop so bring some before you come
No expectation!
Greens were great, but everything else is below average.
Overrated
Hitting off grass seed or just straight up dirt. N the sand traps r not sand. Try concrete. DO NOT HIT OUT OF TRAPS!!
Carts are all broken down. Do urself a favor, travel to Staten Island or dirty jersey for a good round, especially for the price.
Great greens - Horrible Fairways
The greens were in great condition, if a little wet at times, but the fairways were abismal. Often times you are hitting off compact dirt even if you are dead center of the fairway. For $80+ I would expect your basic grass at least.
Poor Bunkers and pace of play. Otherwise Very Good course
Only problem is thier Bunkers are in Terrible Shape!
Arguably the worst course I’ve ever played
Fairways were rock hard and tight, bunkers were full of pebbles, pace of play was terrible, food was subpar and staff was ok. I’ve played harder fairways in AZ mid July I’d give you $1000 if you could take a divot at this place. If you want to waste your money on a muni come here! Sell this property back to Brooklyn and frack it. I’d feel better knowing this plot was used as a parking lot. Never playing here again.
Nice course
Liked the layout , tough par 3s. But 5 hours for a round is far too long. Must upgrade gas carts with manual chokes, the cart took forever to warm up and it was 90 degrees out. Then it kept stalling, quite ridiculous.
Why not country club quality?
Dyker Beach GC has been up and down for the past 20 years that I have been playing there.
The golf course is very heavily played, which is of benefit, financially and detrimental because of the wear and tear.
My opinion reads, as follows: being the most played GC within the continental US, there must be enough revenue to maintain the track in Country Club fashion. It is far from the look or feel of an excellent golf course.
American Golf realizes that people will come even if the course could use major improvement. So why spend money making it better, when players from NYC will patronize because of location and convenience.
Too bad, because it really should be a showcase for American Golf.
