Great Rock Golf Club
About
Opened in 2001, Great Rock Golf Club is one of the newer golf clubs in Long Island but it feels much older thanks to its scenic landscape of rolling green hills covered with mature forests. The mountainous landscape provides plenty of elevation changes that make it difficult to find a flat lie. At 6,254 yards, the course is short but it is still a challenging round with narrow, tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. There is hardly any water on the golf course but with strategically placed bunkers, sidehill lies, and towering trees to contend with, golfers will hardly notice the absence of water hazards. Great Rock's signature hole is the challenging 10th. This par-4 beast is a double uphill climb with a seemingly flat green, but if you read it that way, you're in for some trouble.

Great layout
First time playing and it was a lot of fun, staff was very friendly, condition was very good. The greens looked like they haven’t healed yet and we’re very fast but overall I would go again
Beautiful Course....Great Staff
Upon arrival we were greeted and helped with our clubs....All the staff from check in to starters were top shelf on how they treated you...You felt like a guest at a private Course....The Course was in spectacular condition...We were warned ahead of time that the greens were very fast ......To top it off ...I shot my best round yet....Thanks Great Rock.....We'll be back.
Rough Conditions
Played first warm day of spring. No wait. Blue tee boxes were not cut. Fairways had dirt patches. Greens were air raided and filled with rocks. Not the best bang for the buck course
Good layout
Early in season and had had lots of rain. The course and greens were in really good shape. Fairly short but hilly. Every hole presents a challenge.
Nice Clean Place To Play
Hello. This was my first time playing here and had a great time. Friendly staff, nice greens and clean place. Would recommend..
Great Rock Golf Club
I played here on a nice Tuesday afternoon. Greens are nice and fast! Thought I was putting a Shinnock Golf Club Greens that's how good they were. The sand traps were well kept. Fairways well kept. The rough needs some work. Hopefully it won't be bare for long. Price was great value ! I played great! Tuff pin placements. Staff 2 thumbs up. Hopefully the grounds crew takes care of the rough. Definely not a easy track for beginners. It's not a long track from the tips. What makes the course diffult is the greens.
Good Challenge
Not your typical Long Island course, some dramatic elevation changes. Putts were bouncing, but understandable with our cold spring weather. Only complaint was the layout, A few times we were peppered with balls from other holes, layout is very compact. Anxious to play here again in warmer weather, it was a good challenge!
Great Rock Review
Friendly Staff, Cheap, very inexpensive. very cool layout with hills different types of holes. Will go back again.
Great challenge
I have been playing a great course upstate for the past few years. I look forward to the challenge of the elevation changes.
I played at GreatRock in Wading River which is local to me for the first time the other day. I was pleasantly surprised at the similarities to the upstate course. The scenery and elevation changes were superb.
I would recommend this challenging course to all . Your scores will suffer but it is well worth the experience.
early spring bla's
Greens were terrible due to not healing from fall aeration. Otherwise it is what you would expect from a rough winter and not much of a warm up at this point in march. Would not play this course until grass can grow.
Love this course
I am determined to lay elevation changes better, and this is the place to do it. So beautiful, so challenging
I'll be back soon!
Nice mid 50s at Great Rock
The course is in great shape for February! Rich and Rob make u feel welcome as a member. Greens are rolling true. Fairways great shape! Some bear spots on fairway 14 and 15. But it's early in the season. This course have to be good on the tee and good on the irons. Definely good for challenge for golfers all skill levels.
A great course
Last day of November so there was very few people there. The course was fantastic, greens were good even though they were air rated Layout was great, the course was not easy but it was fun to play. They had the grounds people out taking care of the leaves and they were friendly and polite. I can’t wait to go back and play golf again. If you can get there go you will be happy
Great layout
Presently surprised, course is in good shape. Greens were aerated recently so they were a bit bumpy but were extremely fast. The course layout is awesome with many interesting holes . Lots of elevation changes so choose your club carefully.
Great day beautiful layout great views. Very enjoyable day.
the greens were on the rebound from recent aeration, but were fast.. Otherwise the course was in great shape.
The course was pretty empty today because of the cooler weather. As a threesome, we played in 3hrs, 45 min.
interesting, chalnging, but enjoyable
course was in great shape for autum and recent heavy rain, and leaf removal excellent. For Long Island this is a surprisingly hilly course, with several holes having big elevation changes. This, and dog legs made a interesting day.
