About
Ravenwood Golf Club is situated in the Finger Lakes region in western New York. It's one of the most popular public championship courses in the Rochester region. Robin Nelson designed the course in 2002. He utilized the gently undulating landscape to seamlessly connect the holes to one another so that the whole golf course has a natural flow. The front nine is gentler than the back, where the par 3s present formidable tests. The water hazards on the back are particularly challenging. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. Ravenwood's par-5 18th has a green that's tucked into the woods with the hill behind it forming a natural amphitheater. A challenging array of seven strategically placed bunkers guards the green and approach area.

Great course and challenging from the tips! I’ll be back to have another go at it!
Good Experience
This is a nice course that is well kept and works to create a nice golfing experience. There were several groups that let us through that made the pace of play good - if they had not it would have been very slow. A course marshal for these groups of inexperienced golfers would be a positive adjustment for the course.
Lots of sand
Seems open but most greens protected by traps as well as fairways. bunkers to snare your drives.
Challenging with many bunkers. Well maintained. One of the best courses in Rochester area.
Nice layout and variety of shot selections to hit
I would have given the course conditions an excellent except a few greens were spotty (probably winter impact on the grass) but they were quick. Some greens had been "spiked" recently. We played after a tournament so they were bumpy from the foot traffic but that's to be expected with heavy play. The course overall was in great shape - tees, fairways, rough, traps. Ravenwood offers a variety of holes, elevation changes and plenty of opportunity to think about the shot you might hit on some tees. It's very picturesque and I definitely recommend trying it if you haven't played there previously. I enjoyed my round with a young man looking to turn pro so I played the black tees (couldn't go back to the tips with him) which added bit of yardage to my planned round from the blue tees. Plenty of tee selections allowing you to play a yardage that you are comfortable with.
Pace
We waited every shot. At the turn we waited a half an hour.
Great shape
This course is well maintained and in great shape.
Really enjoyed my round.
GET A RANGER!
Only issue I have with this course is that they over book and don't have a ranger to keep the pace of play up! Besides that it's a great public golf course and one of the best in the Rochester area. Get it together!!

One of the nicer courses in the area. Highly recommend it. Plan on coming back next year.
