Great Course
Play this course a lot, one of my favorite. Course opened earlier then most some greens still need some work but all are open. Greens are usually very true and fast.
Winter damaged greens
Scenic and enjoyable layout. Tee boxes, bunkers and fairways in decent condition. Sadly the majority of the greens sustained winter damage. While this is could not be controlled, perhaps the course could have made mention of this prior to the round.
It will not disappoint
27 holes. Very Scenic. Greens are sketchy early in the season, but the course is now in great condition. The staff is friendly, but can be like high school principals or hall monitors sometimes. Challenging for scratch players but not too hard for the rest of us. I've been to many courses this one I enjoy playing over and over again. Not a lot of merchandise in the clubhouse, the restaurant is above average, overall the facility is quite pristine. They are 10 minutes from New Paltz which has great food and beer.
Goodness! Love this course
If you can play the east, then the front 9 this course is amazing. Playing the front "18" can feel a little too much the same, but the east 9 really changes things up!
Course is in decent condition considering the weather this winter.... 2-3 weeks of good summer weather from being great.
Great condition
Played it on a cold windy day. East nine were tough but fair due to strong wind. Course 1 was in better condition. Greens need some work.
Wait and see.
Apple Greens is usually one of the nicest courses in the area, I have played it many times. However this time I was disappointed. While most of the course was in decent condition, the greens were horrific. It was a chore to get a 20 foot putt within 5 feet. The greens were more brown than green, with a strange criss-cross pattern. I'll give them a pass however because the greens are usually immaculate. With that said, I wouldn't pay more than $20 to play this course until the greens are back to normal.
A Hudson Valley Gem
If you live in the Hudson Valley you MUST play Apple Greens. Fairways are superb, rough is penal but not punishing, greens are contoured and lightning fast. Holes are well-defined and each poses its own interesting challenges. There is trouble on every hole, but if you hit it straight you'll be fine. Par 3s, unfortunately, are not memorable. One of the best-conditioned 18-hole public courses in the Hudson Valley. Course gets a lot of play, so reserve a tee time.
And be sure to try the 9-hole (no walkers) East Course. Elevation changes and views are amazing. Quite difficult for the mid-handicapper.
