Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Always a Solid Choice
You can’t go wrong with Garrison. Is it the best course you’ll ever play? No. It’s definitely not the worst. The views of the Hudson River and West Point are great! The Front nine and the back nine are like completely different courses. The second hole is fun.
Course Management should disclose all costs.
*Course conditions very good
*Course Management did not disclose the cost of Cart at $32/twosome. (Only Negative)
Cart required
Booked online, thought I had cart included. Did not, so we had to pay an extra $10. This is not a walkable course. pace of play was slow due to a slow group ahead of us.
Beautiful day
The Garrison is a beautiful course with sweeping views of the Hudson River and highlands. Course conditions were good as was the pace of play. One of the nicest public access courses in the area.
Course
Overall course in good shape. Greens in good shape. However, cart had no power and GPS system went on hole 4. Very difficult to play course you have never played without GPS. Spacing of holes on front nine very odd.
Awesome
Great Views, Great Conditions, and Great Time. Overall Awesome course.
Beautiful course and beautiful views
Great time playing here for my first time. Staff was friendly and handling the COVID-19 situation effectively.
In Great Shape this Spring
Usually not my favorite course and walking it means 7 miles with your bag. Back isn't too bad but the front is tough, especially when they reverse the course but they have it in amazing shape, greens are rolling perfectly.
Good Memories
I was a member of a private club when one of my buddies first suggested playing this track in the late 80's. It was a treasure then and still is today. I played once this year but it was earlier in the year and the grass was dormant so it would be unfair to give an assessment based on that round. I'm playing here next Wednesday and because of Covid, carts aren't allowed. For some reason I'm getting brain freeze about the uphill holes, I seem to remember the downhill holes but I am worried about climbing hills at age 63 with a pull cart. Hopefully by wednesday the restriction will be lifted and I can rent a cart. As for the course (downhill holes), it helps to be able to carve a fade and hit a draw because every hole has a little curve to it. I am not in love with the 2nd hole though, it's a straight huge downhill shot surrounded by woods and crooked hitters have trouble finding their balls in the woods and short is death.
Good but not great
The course has great views if not for the pace of play and the conditions it is a great course.
Great course
Fun, competitive, great conditions. Always a good time and. Great staff!!
