See
Niagara Falls, One of the World's Natural Wonders
Niagara Falls is New York State's most spectacular water attraction
and one of the natural wonders of the world. Visitors are awestruck
at Niagara Falls. It is a study of contrasts, with delicate rainbows
and rising mists amid unbridled roaring thunder.
The falls can be seen from many vantage points. Stroll through the
oldest state park in the nation, the Niagara Falls Reservation State
Park, where you can see the churning Niagara River before
it spills over the falls. Walk to the brink and see the river crash
176 feet to the base. Don slickers and power launch on a Maid of
the Mist boat tour to the base of the falls. Walk down a winding
staircase in the Cave of the Winds and see the Bridal Veil
Falls through the mist. Or hover overhead by helicopter and photograph
one of nature's most powerful forces from above. Other attractions in
the area, including State Parks Visitors Center, the New York
Power Authority and the Schoellkopf Geological Museum, describe
the history, technology and geology of the falls.
