Pound Ridge rocks! Westchester County golf course is one of Pete Dye's most challenging
POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Located less than an hour north of New York City, Pound Ridge Golf Club occupies some of the highest peaks in Westchester County. The course is a Pete Dye design that has consistently ranked as one of the top five courses in the state. It's considered one of his most memorable layouts.
The course has a dramatic landscape of hardwood forests and fescue mounds that lead to open, grassy meadows. Impressive boulders and rocky outcroppings dot the layout, adding further to the visually stunning setting. You'll find every challenge imaginable on this course including steep drops in elevation, wetlands, strategically placed bunkers, sharp doglegs, and blind approaches. Not to mention it's a whopping 7,127 yards from the back tees.
Pound Ridge is certainly not a golf course for the faint hearted. One of the many highlights of the course is the par-5 13th. This intimidating hole is home to "Pete's Rock," a massive boulder that sits in the center of the fairway. Proper club selection and accuracy are essential in order to avoid hitting the rock and ending up in the hazards that lurk along the fairway.
