The Metro Golf Show, the New York metropolitan area's only regularly scheduled radio program devoted to golf, is coming back for a third season according to WVOX (1460 AM) in New York City. The Metro Golf Show premiered on WVOX on in May of 2003 and will continue to be broadcast at the 8 a.m. timeslot for the third season. Each week, The Metro Golf Show links listeners to the entire New York City local golf scene. The show features profiles of area golf courses, tee times, golfing tips and interviews with local personalities about their golfing life.
Forget what you've heard. Golf balls can indeed be launched from the concrete jungle known as Manhattan. Not from a golf course, per se, but the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers is the closest on-the-links obsession within this borough. The Oneida Indian Nation decided to add a course to its Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona and didn't enter the golf world timidly. And by not cutting costs and sparing no expenses, the golf course is definitely in the big leagues. With three courses and a three-par, visitors are leaving very impressed. "This is a first-class operation. If you can foot the bill, this place will not disappoint," said Buffalo's Rick Eagleton.
