How sad that after waiting so many years for another public course in Westchester, Hudson Hills is neither worth the money nor fun to play. I've been playing in Westchester for 20+ years and I can't begin to describe the disappointment at playing here, let alone paying a ridiculous, undeserved premium to play the course. Too many holes offer blind tee shots - in particular the 2nd to a fairway the slopes severly from right to left so that a straight tee shot will end up in the rough or lost for good. The 10th is the worse example of hole design I've ever seen, as the tee box points way off into an adjacent fairway, forcing an awkward fading tee shot, and this is a par 5! The 8th hole was a poor excuse for a short hole that was carved out of the woods because the designer ran out of space - it's a par 4 that forces the player to use a middle iron off the tee. The 5th hole is a short hole with blind ponds that are reachable from the tee box for the longer hitters. Every one of the serious Westchester golfers I spoke to who played the course swore they would never return and regretted having overpaid for the misery they experienced. I think that it will only be a matter of time before the county starts to lose money on the course as a result of people refusing to play there. The proof: when people where camped in the parking lot of the other courses for 4-5 days to obtain an EZ Tee Time for the season, almost no one was waiting at Hudson Hills. This is a course where no one wants to make it their "home" course and pay $80 a round each week, as opposed to the $27 at the other courses.
