Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club
About
Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club was carefully carved from the scenic terrain of its namesake mountain range, situated in the Northern Catskills. The lush green golf course is tucked away among forested hills brimming with wildlife. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they are joined by turkey and deer during their game. Bears are even occasionally seen on the golf course. The rolling terrain provides many ups-and-downs throughout, and you'll rarely find a flat lie. The golf course features narrow fairways lined with trees and strategically placed bunkers frame the double-tiered greens. Water hazards come into play on a few holes as well. It is a course that will test your accuracy and force you to strategize your shot placement on every hole. It's a tough test, but the beautiful scenery alone is worth playing a round at Blackhead Mountain.

This course is by far one of the most challenging golf courses you will ever play
This course is by far one of the most challenging golf courses you will ever play. Its built into the side of a mountain. with lots of steep grades, water, ravines, and sloped fairways. Beautiful pristine views from high atop the Blackhead Mountains. On a clear day you can easily see for 100 miles..If you in the area this is a MUST play!!
Nice course, great staff, quick pace of play.
I've played Blackhead several times and I have to say this is my favorite time of the year to play the course. Once mid summer hits the fairways tend to get much tougher to hold (it's on the side of mountain so once they harden up your ball tends to roll or bounce off).
Course was in good shape and is a challenge without being impossible to score on. Very scenic as well.
I was short on time and only played 12 holes this time but did so in about 1 hour 15 minutes so the pace of play was great (nobody pushing me so I could have taken my time if I wanted to).
Staff is always friendly and accommodating even to golfnow customers who might be paying $10 for their round.
I'd recommend to anyone for a good golf outing.
Great course. Challenging, but fair, design. Very friendly staff.
This is a great course. Beautiful scenery and a creative
design. Another reviewer said that this course was too difficult
but I disagree. This course is not overly difficult, but it isn't
easy. You are rewarded for good course management. A grip-
it-and-rip-it strategy will land you in trouble, literally!!
I've played a lot of flat, boring courses, but this one is a
nice challenge. The staff are very friendly and the
food/beer is amazing. I can't wait to play this course again in the spring.
Great day! Friendly staff! Fun course with spectacular views!!
My son and I had a perfect afternoon! The golf course was in great shape and very fun to play. The views from the course of the mountains and Hudson valley are the best around. Afterwords the clubhouse "barn" was a great place to enjoy a beer and laughs going over our round. The staff is very friendly and we had a great time! Can't wait to go back!
Don't bother
Course is ridiculous. Every hole is a gimmick. You're either hitting a blind tee shot, off an uneven fairway, or into a green that runs off from every angle into woods, water, or an unplayable lie. Don't waste your time or money. Only plus is great views and staff was very friendly.
