All amenities closed, greens weren’t taken care of well. But overall a nice course.
Neglected
We were excited to play this prestigious course. Very disappointed,
Overgrown. Greens were in bad shape, Bathrooms bolted shut,
Money grab
I’ve passed by the course for years and always wanted to play. Recently the course was sold to a developer and will be houses soon, which sucks but welcome to Long Island. I will say the course is still in decent shape and the layout is great. RTJ really did a nice job with routing and the course has some sneaky tough holes. Particularly 9 and 18 going uphill with slipped greens are nice. The greens had some ball marks but still rolled true. I understand the course is closing so I’m not upset at the conditions of the cart paths, many bunkers and some holes, but $115 to ride is a little steep. However I finally got to play it so I’m not upset. Sad that courses on LI are being sold so easily and turned into housing
Very Nice Course but too bad the property has been sold.
This course was in very good shape. Greens rolled true, fairways nice and plush, Tee boxes very well maintained. The staff that we encountered were very nice and helpful. What was nice on this day was that we didn't wait on any hole and we were not pushed from behind either. I thoroughly enjoyed this round as there was no aggravating factors other my own game. The sad part about this round was that the starter told me that they will be bulldozing the course to make way for 26 luxury homes starting in March. So if you want to play a really nice course, you got to do it soon. I will be back there before that happens.
first course I played where all the traps (i was in a bunch)
had playable sand
Must play before too late!
Definitely suggest playing this course before it gets closed down to the public! The course is in great condition for being “closed” and one can see just how beautiful this course once was (even though it’s as close to beautiful as it can be now)!
Get out and play it as soon as you can!
Make this option
Course has deteriorated since I played about a month ago. Greens are beaten up; ball marks not repaired by golfers....really? I repaired 2 or 3 every hole and there were plenty more to fix; No water stations on the course; no ball washers on the course; Staff is friendly though. I guess doing the best they can with limited resources.
