Although it's only an hour from New York City, the Garrison's secluded location nestled in the Hudson Highlands makes it feel much further. Perched 800 feet above the Hudson River, the 18-hole Garrison golf course offers panoramic views of the river and the surrounding mountains. As beautiful as the rolling hills are, they provide a challenging topography that will keep you from being distracted by the scenery. The rolling greens are flanked with bunkers and water. In addition to the uphill, downhill, and side hill lies, you can expect a few tough carries over deep ravines and stands of mature oaks along the fairways. The elevation changes are especially dramatic on the front nine while the back nine is a bit more open and forgiving, but you'll still need accuracy throughout the entire golf course.

Nice View, but they do not do maintenance anymore.
Nice View, but they are not trying to be nice course .
They also had no enough cart.
After I hit the driver in 1 hole, I was still waiting like 10 min. for electric cart coming back.
3 other people already went to another hole .
I never had such experience .
The many tee boxes and green were not good .
I do not come back I guess.
Closing Down
A nice course, but its planning to shut down this year. Despite thunder and lightning and heavy rain they would not offer rainchecks. If the weathers good, definitely play. If weather is iffy, let the buyer beware.
Fantastic Gem
Played 27 on a perfect day, about 70 degrees, sunny with a few puffy clouds. The vistas are spectacular, the course challenging, and the staff extremely friendly. Play this course soon because 2021 will be it's last year in business. Per the local paper:
Chris Davis, the owner of The Garrison, said on Friday (April 2) that he plans to close its 18-hole golf course after the 2021 season because of significant financial losses but will ensure conservation easements prevent commercial development of the land.
Davis said the decision was independent of a plan by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival to move its longtime home at Boscobel to 52 acres Davis donated at The Garrison site. The plan had been to reduce the course from 18 to nine holes to make room.
The other businesses operated by The Garrison — a wedding and catering venue, a small inn and The Valley Restaurant — will remain in operation, Davis said in a statement.
The golf course will begin its final season on Monday (April 5).
The statement cited “many years of significant losses from golf operations and the failure to achieve any significant synergy between golf and its core wedding, catering and restaurant businesses.”
“We’ve invested heavily in golf for two decades,” said Chip Allemann, general manager of The Garrison, in the statement. “Like so many commercial golf courses around the country, we simply failed to become economically sustainable in light of declining play and the increased number of courses” in the region.
Last day to play 11/1/21
If you haven't played here before or returning, you won't be disappointed. Beautiful views and challenging holes make for a challenging round. Make sure to club up on the narrow 7th hole on your approach. Will play again for sure. Will miss the view of the Hudson on the 10th tee box and 11th fairway.
