Nice hilly course
This course is real nice..some Tee boxes are pretty high up there...And some are low..its got some hills here and there....but over all this is a great place to play a round...
Still Early in The Season
Falkirk is a so so golf course. It's cheap, so don't expect the conditions to be top notch. It was early in the season, so yeah the course wasn't in top shape. What I can predict is that you'll find a lot of crab grass on the fairways, tee boxes, and greens. Also plan for hitting out of bunkers that don't have that much sand in them. Mansion Ridge's bunkers may have them beat condition wise, and that's saying a lot haha. There's no driving range, but they do have a chipping/putting green. It seems they cater more to weddings/special events more to golfers.
I hope that this review was helpful.
Old favorite
If this course had a range, it would be my favorite by miles. I play here a few times a season. Usually not too crowded. Not very long, but you still need to be careful with tee shots. Conditions are good but not great. Bunkers need some attention, but then it's a little early. The greens are very tricky. Try and stay below the pin, or you will surely find yourself chipping back up.
Falkirk approaches winter
Considering there was snow on this course earlier in the week, the conditions were very good. However, with the impending rain this week, you may need your best weather-proof golf shoes to play the rest of the year. Feel fortunate to get out at this time of the year in the Northeast - I'll leave it at that - we didn't see anyone else until the 14th hole!!
Good day on the course
We had a good time on this course. Staff was super friendly. Golf carts had GPS . I would come back again .
Challenging
Falkirk Estate offers a challenging and enjoyable experience. Almost every hole is uphill or downhill so you really need a golf cart. Not much in the way of water hazards or bunkers. There has hardly been any rain this month, so the course was very dry and hard allowing the ball to bounce and carry a considerable distance. With the ground so dry and hard, the ball often rolled off the fairway to the downside of the slope and off into the shrubs or tall grass - many lost balls during our game. Would love to play this course when the ground conditions are better.
Falkirk Oct '16
Beautiful fall day, beautiful views, beautiful golf course, wonderful day of golf!
A Work in Progress
After several years of efforts, the course still needs work. Its better than five years ago. The layout is fun and interesting. Not a long course but shot placement is vital. You can get into trouble very easy on some of the narrower holes. Greens are in pretty good shape but the bunkers are not so much.
Falkirk
Very interesting course. Hard to play the first time as the distances and blind shots are hard to judge. Greens had been aerated so tough to rate them, but they have lots of undulations. While yardage is short overall, drastic changes in elevation make it play longer on many holes.
Uphill and downhill
Nice course, VERY challenging to walk it. I have never seen a hole like no. 3. It is like a beginner's downhill ski track, just to play up the hill! The greens are challenging, too. Going behind the greens always means trouble. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the greens were slow and bumpy and needed mowing.
Challenging greens
Nice layout. Was first time playing this course. Very open on most holes. Greens very small, pitched and not in great condition. Need rolling and cutting.sTee boxes need some weeding and should be leveled. Staff very friendly and professional. Not busy and finished in about 3.5 hours. Would think some course management after a few rounds would improve scores. Important where tee shots are left on a few holes. Also learning the greens would help you score.
Falkirk
Very pleasant round of golf. Staff is ALWAYS helpful and friendly.
Falkirk, a pleasant surprise
The course was a definite challenge compared to your standard golf course. Each hole was different with a lot of higher elevation greens with upward sloping fairways. Course was in decent shape and not manicured the best, with one or two of the greens a bit shabby, but all in all average to good conditions were the norm. The staff in the pro shop were great and got us set up to golf with no wait. Pace of play was quick with no holdup and no one on your tail pushing you to hurry up.
Food was good and again the staff in the bar was excellent, very friendly. Felt like I had known the staff for years. Would definitely return.
Week day round
I've played this course several times, usually during the week. Pace of play is great. The fairways and greens are good. Some tee boxes are not ideal but if you tee it up, you'll be fine. Course is not relatively long. Great for the average player, offering some challenges.
Like Summer Out in The Country
I used to play this course more often when I worked in the area. Presently I live 50 mi from there. Just the same I found a lower priced Hot Deal (this was key) to make it worth the drive to get out of my local area for the day.
This course is unusual in that there are a few steep hills.Once you get "up on top" you enjoy feeling you are out in the country The greens were in decent shape (could use better tending though) and the fairways were good. There were very few other players when I played at 5pm. This time I was restricted to the back 9 only because a wedding was being catered and part of the front 9 runs close to the the main building. So if you are going on a Fri or Sat in the afternoon it would be best to check first with the pro shop. I didn't mind not playing the front 9 this time since I had played it earlier in the week, that being the first time in years I had played this course. Also bring bug spray in case - certain areas on the course can be a bit buggy.
Worth The Trip..
Coming from Brooklyn to place this course is definitely worth the trip!!!! Beautiful course, short but challenging!!!! Staff is great!!!!! Would like to see more opportunities for water and carts are helpful with GPS but the food option display interferes with the scoring and gps very frequently.
I would like some lunch specials with drinks offered.
Looking forward to making the trip to play Falkirk again!!!!
Hidden Treasure
Beautiful and challenging golf course. Reasonably priced, and very friendly staff.
Challenging layout needs some maintenance
Course layout is good. Greens need to be mowed and rolled way too slow. Bunkers need sand expect to mess up your clubs trying to get out. Overall Course needs some upkeep. I wouldn't play here unless it's under 40.00.......
needs work
greens are way too slow!
some of the tees are in terrible shape.
the carts were electric and new with gps.
