Timber Banks Golf Club & Marina
About
Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville boasts the only Nicklaus Design course in upstate New York. The golf course rambles through ancient forests and across lush grassy meadows. The tranquil environment is the perfect setting for a round of golf. Nicklaus incorporated his signature features into the design including a variety of interesting risk-reward opportunities. The challenging layout features tight landing areas and undulating, uniquely shaped greens. The putting surfaces are known for playing fast and true. It seems as though there are hazards at every turn on this challenging golf course, including Nicklaus' trademark fairway bunkers. The abundant wetlands also come into play throughout. Timber Banks Golf Club already measures to a whopping 7,330 yards but it can feel even longer thanks to all of the tricky spots you're sure to encounter.

Very nice course
Very nice course Challenging lay out with very undulated greens
Outstanding
One of the best and most challenging courses I've ever played. It is a Jack Nicklaus design with very challenging greens. If you love golf, play it as often as you can
A real treat... we'll be back!
Every hole stands outon it's own... no boredom allowed! Classic Nicklaus and lots of sand and sloped greens. Great shape... felt very welcome when checking in. A totally positive, enjoyable day!
Great Golf Course
The fairways, sand traps and greens are championship quality. I felt the undulating greens and pin placements were a bit tough on the amateur golfer, that could have been because we followed a tournament. But the course is great and fair. (Fairways are fairly wide open but also challenging) The course has a great practice green and driving range. It lacks a nice dining or bar facility. It does have a outdoor refreshment area for a quick fix.
Great Deal w Super Saver
This is the first time I use GolfNow - can't resist the super saver fees, more than 50% off even with the GN fees. I was a bit worried since I had to book on GN but turned out absolutely no problem checking in. Great deal and I will definitely come back.
This a a great layout -like most resort courses tee to green is reasonable. Once you are on the green the challenge begins! Your approach shots must be accurate and controlled or 3-putt's will be plenty. It has been raining a lot lately so the greens were kind of soaked and grass longer than I would like to see. The early morning moisture makes it more difficult to judge speed. I am sure it will be fine once the course dries up.
Best course in Central NY
This course is in pristine condition. I read the reviews before hand and was a little intimidated about all the comments on the greens being so hard. The greens are fine. Living in Virginia Beach we have these types of greens at all the courses. Yes the greens are challenging but definitely not unfair. If you leave yourself below the hole, you have a very good chance of getting par or better. The rest of the course from the tee boxes to the fairways was excellent. I would love to play this course again as going on here for the first time, I would definitely play some holes differently. Course is highly recommended!!!!
Timberbanks
Great course. Will definitely return and play again...
Don't Poke The Bear
Challenging Jack Nicklaus signature layout with undulating greens and fairway bunkers. Course was in excellent condition when we played. 4 to 6 inch rough and daring pin placements worthy of PGA tournament play. You need to bring your A game when you play here or these links will eat you up. Stay in the fairway and respect pin placements.
Great course, "gettable" but just difficult enough
Great course, great challenge. You never feel like any hole is out of reach though every hole has its challenges.
A typical Jack Nicholas course - undulating greens but they putt fair.
Fun layout. You never feel like you are just going back and forth.
Good course, but not for the inexperienced.
Greens are fast, with a lot of unrepaired/poorly repaired ball marks on some holes.
The scorecard/course should give more details about the several blind tee shots you'll encounter.
The rough is REALLY long and thick, you may lose a ball in there and it is certainly not easy to hit out of.
Greens Monster
The course is in excellent shape. The course itself is not "difficult" until you reach the green. The greens are challenging, in fact nothing a bulldozer cannot fix. Lots of bunkers. Husband and I paired up because of slow play. If they had a starter it would help.
Nice Layout, Nice Condition, Not So Nice Greens
This was my first time playing the course, so I will have to chalk up some missed opportunities to inexperience.
I'll play many holes differently next time around.
Overall I thought this track was very nice.
Lots of sand to avoid, some shorter par 4's as long as a couple brutes. Doglegs both left and right, elevated greens, forced carries, etc..
Rough adjacent to greens often long and penal, so don't short side yourself!
In very nice condition and staff was very friendly.
The one knock I have is the greens.
Although in good shape they are certainly not friendly with mammoth undulations, and pins often on small shelves.
All in all, lots of fun......I'll be back!
This course is in good condition
We played on a Saturday and was busy and slow but there was no Marshall to assist the players
Beautiful fairways; impossible greens
Course in great shape except greens which are hard as cement, sandy and unforgiving.
Also, construction crews operating bulldozers which made for a very noisy back nine.
Tomber Banks
Nice Golf Course. Unfortunately we got rained out the second day. It would have been nice to play it twice instead of only once.
Great value for the money
Played on a Saturday morning. Course conditions were fantastic, from tee to green absolutely first rate. Pace of play was about 4-1/2 hours. Prior to playing read reviews and then experienced first hand the difficulty of the greens. Not sure of the Stump rating but they were fast, and pin placement required accurate approach shots.
timber banks
By far the best maintained course I have played in years.A true gem in the central New York area.
Nicklaus Nightmare
If you are looking to raise your handicap 10+ points, just join this club. Unbelievable pin placements and green undulations. Plan on at least 6 three putts. If you break 80 out here you should be a scratch golfer. Plan on at least 5 hours . Beautiful, difficult, maddening, layout. Knowing the green layouts and pin placements will be mandatory to keep it close for a realistic birdie putt. Bring every ounce of your A game and then some. Outstanding practice facility.
Great course, tough greens
It helps to play with someone that knows the course as you cannot always see danger areas, or whee to aim off the tee with some blind tee shots. If you struggle with the putter, you're going to have a long day. These undulating greens are fast, and some of the pin placements will having you pulling your hair out. I loved them. Both times I've played here I've gone out alone in the second tee and breezed right through. I try to play this course every time I come up here from NJ to visit family. Look forward to coming back again next time.
Great Nicklaus Course
Tough greens, striking visuals, probably very tough walk. Extra sleeve of balls just in case. No after golf bar or restaurant.
Thank you for the excellent review! We hope to see you back this season!
